August Sanders
Pastrycook, 1928
Shows profession, outfit on, white jacket, subject looking
at the camera, as if they have some sort of dialog with the photographer,
pride, professional mask, pause in the middle of work, but Sanders got him
posing. Light set up in certain way, really contrast making his jacket, the
shine from the bowl, carefully composed
lines of draw come and meet towards his head, drawing our attention of
his face the diagonal line of his hand going towards the corner with the spoon,
and his body takes up a significant amount of space within the portrait.
